The selling of a Senate seat. Hmmmm?

Last night I was watching a piece following Caroline Kennedy and her desire to fill Hillary's Seante seat in NY. The reporter kept saying she'd be a good candidate because of her ability to raise money. Apparently, it will take Kennedy a MINIMUM of $40,000,000 to run.
40 million.
So how does money NOT buy you a seat?
How does money NOT equate power in America?
Wall Street beats out Main Street once again.
Burn.
