I remember being 4 years old, watching the Challenger space-launch with my Mom. I remember the countdown and the take off and the explosion. I remember the President addressing the nation at a time of loss and shock.
Fast forward 25 years...
I wonder if it were to happen today, if we would continue to pursue space, and dream about the future? Or would we become frightened and legislate a cutoff of all things that may be perceived as dangerous and unknown?
Maybe its our sue-happy culture, maybe we've grown soft, but I praise the scientists and uber-creative dreamers for not quitting 25 years ago! It is a testament to the creative spirit, and I think its worth remembering and taking stock - especially today.
Peace,
Ross
